STATEMENT FROM THE SOCIETY
OF THE IMMACULATA
CONCERNING THE “SECRETS” OF LA SALETTE
27 April 2005
Long Island, New York
We who are holding on to the Catholic Faith so often are presented with
the comment from the laity,
"Well, Father, Our Lady did say at La Salette that 'Rome would
become the seat of the Antichrist...."
No doubt, usurpers have occupied the Throne of St. Peter since 1958; no
doubt, the Novus Ordo sect is NOT Catholic;
HOWEVER - many Catholics do not know
that, although the Catholic Church has approved the apparition of Our
Lady at La Salette, it has NOT approved the so-called "Secrets". To
date, NO POPE HAS EVER
RELEASED THE SECRETS OF LA SALETTE.
In fact, in 1916, the Holy See
condemned anybody - clergy or laity - who diseminates these so-called
"secrets".
Those among the faithful might be tempted to say, however, that: "Isn't
it obvious that what Our Lady said has come to pass?"
The fact is: The Church has not told us what Our Lady said in those
secrets and, in 1916, has told us that WE MAY NOT discuss what was
claimed to be the Secrets without incurring excommunication.
There are enough "proofs" to convince us that Rome has lost the faith
without turning to the UNREVEALED texts of the secrets of La Salette.
So,
What Must Be Said of the Secrets of La Salette?
Like the Third Secret of Fatima, the true Secret of La Salette has
never been made public by the Holy See. Many Catholics sadly continue
to be misled by the false and unapproved "secret" drawn up by an
embittered Melanie Calvat in 1879, a gross distortion of the original
version she wrote in 1851 [also not released by the Holy See]. Others,
despite their good will, have simply felt unable to give it their
credence – providentially it would seem.
ROMAN CONGREGATION DECREES PROHIBITING
CERTAIN WORKS RELATIVE TO
MESSAGES ATTRIBUTED TO THE BLESSED
VIRGIN MARY AT LA SALETTE
CLARIFICATION: To circumvent any misunderstanding - we wish to advise
that we concur with the Bishop of Grenoble's decision regarding the
apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at La Salette in 1846, that the
apparition is "worthy of belief." Our intent is to demonstrate that:
a) the "secret" of La Salette does NOT form an integral part of the
Bishop's (and Church's) approval;
b) that the "secret" which has Our Lady saying that "Rome will lose the
Faith...etc." is an 1879 corruption of the unapproved 1851 "secret";
c) that the corrupted 1879 "secret" has been condemned by the Church -
culminating with being placed on the Index of Forbidden Books.
We give here, both in the official
Latin text and English translation, the Roman Decrees:

SUPREMA SACRA CONGREGATIO S. OFFICII
DECRETUM
CIRCA VULGO DICTUM "SECRET DE LA
SALETTE"
Ad Supremae huius Congregationis notitiam pervenit quosdam non deesse,
etiam ex ecclesiastico coetu, qui, posthabitis responsionibus ac
decisionibus ipsius S. Congregationis, per libros, opuscula atque
articulos in foliis periodicis editos, sive subscriptos sive sine
cohibeantur, eadem Sacra Congregatio mandat omnibus fidelibus
donee resipiscant. Utrique insuper subiaceant sanctionibus latis tum a
Leone PP.
Salette nuncupatam.

THE SUPREME SACRED CONGREGATION OF THE
HOLY OFFICE
GIVES A DECREE
CONCERNING THE COMMONLY CALLED "SECRET
OF LA SALETTE."
It has come to the attention of this Supreme Congregation that certain
ones are not lacking, even from among the ecclesiastic assemblage who,
responses and decisions of this Holy Congregation itself having been
disregarded, do proceed to discuss and examine through books, small
works and articles edited in periodicals, whether signed or without a
name, concerning the so-called Secret of La Salette, its diverse forms
and its relevance to present and future times; and, this not only
without permission of the Ordinaries, but, also against their ban.
So that these abuses which oppose true piety and greatly wound
ecclesiastical authority might be curbed, the same Sacred Congregation
orders all the faithful of any region not to discuss or investigate
under any pretext, neither through books, or little works or articles,
whether signed or unsigned, or in any other way of any kind, about the
mentioned subject. Whoever, indeed, violates this precept of the Holy
Office, if they are priests, are deprived of all dignity and suspended
by the local ordinary from hearing sacramental confessions and from
offering Mass: and, if they are lay people, they are not permitted to
the sacraments until they repent.
Moreover, let people be subject to the sanctions given both by Pope Leo
XIII through the Constitution of the offices and responsibilities
against those who publish books dealing with religious things without
legitimate permission of superiors and by Urban VIII through the decree
"Sanctissimus Dominus Noster" given on 13th March 1625 against those
who publish asserted revelations without the permission of ordinaries.
However, this decree does not forbid devotion towards the Blessed
Virgin under the title of Reconciliatrix commonly of La Salette.
Given at Rome on 21st December, 1915. - Aloisius Castellano, S.
R. and U. I. Notary.
