Dear Benefactors of the Society of the Immaculata,
and Parishioners of Mary Immaculate Chapel,

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that we are no longer affiliated with Bishop Sebastian or his group of priests. This decision was made upon receiving a letter yesterday from Bishop Sebastian, informing me that, in May, he and his clergy made a Profession of Faith, accepting the Vatican II sect as the legitimate hierarchy of the Catholic Church, and have recently spoken with the Novus Ordo "bishop" to begin the process of their "reconciliation and submission" to the Novus Ordo sect.

No doubt, this decision, seemingly out of left field, was well contemplated by them in advance. For me, these past twenty-four hours have been filled with questions like: Why had it taken two months to inform me of this? Did the bishop honestly have trouble with his plane ticket in May, or did he not want to address this in person? During my week away in June, was there really nobody to cover for me? And, of course, the gravest question of all: How could these men, whom I presumed to be well trained in the Faith, have chosen to formally embrace the errors of Modernism and the Vatican II sect?

This, indeed, is the darkest hour of my priesthood. Each of us must face his Calvary and, if this is not mine, I fear what might be in store in the years to come. Our parish - and community - however, will survive. The faithful of Mary Immaculate Chapel are prime examples of souls that do not test the direction of the wind in order to determine where they stand on matters of Faith. Some of you have been with me since the very first day of my Ordination. An entire family has transformed their home into a chapel so that I may provide you with the Sacraments. All of you - no matter how long you have been here - are 100% tried and true.

I promise, on my very life, that I shall never abandon my position in the pilothouse of this small barque that God has entrusted to me. With unwavering faith and hope in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and that of His Sorrowful Mother, I would rather die at my post than abandon it by turning from the Faith and embracing the errors of the Vatican II sect.

In closing, I ask that you please pray for the clergy that have chosen to relinquish their obligations to defend the Faith in order to be seen as “legitimate” by the usurpers of the Church’s hierarchy. They have turned 180 degrees from what they professed. For a decade, they led souls in the battle to reach heaven. Now, they must acknowledge the reforms of Vatican II as being valid means to aid in the attainment of salvation. They must profess that those teaching error, supposedly in the name of the Church, are doing so with the authority of Saints Peter and Paul.

Our task might seem daunting. We constantly get the impression that there are not many of us out there and, although this may be true, we need recall the words of Our Blessed Lord: But yet the Son of man, when He cometh, shall He find, think you, faith on earth? [Lk. 18, 8] We should not be shocked, therefore, when individuals choose to give up the fight; only the determined can swim against a strong tide. Let us, then, make certain that, whenever Our Lord does return, He will find the faithful of Mary Immaculate Chapel undeniably true to Him and to His Church. That is what will matter; not what others think about us; not how many people we have; not the type of building we have for Mass. I think we are all spiritually mature enough to have moved past those thoughts as being important to us. What matters is what Jesus Christ expects of us.

To that end, each of us must fulfill his vocation. Pray that your parish priest remain faithful to his, as he prays that his parishioners are true to their own.

                                                                   In Cordibus Iesu et Mariae,

                                                                   Fr. Dennis McCormack, S. I.
